GUNS KILL ~~ a saterical poem

New Azalea Press, 2/16/2020:
It's been two years now.  Nearly every gun in the U.S. has to been insured in case it shoots and kills or injures someone.  If not insured, it was a goner.  Or an animal except for legalized hunting. GUNS DON'T KILL but ALL GUNS ARE MADE TO KILL.

Sport shooting, IF NOT MADE TO KILL wasn't a problem.  ALL GUNS FOR SPORT are now PELLET GUNS.

The insurance companies are loving this addition to their business, their profits are soaring.  And the states regulate insurance companies.  That way the former DO NOTHING CONGRESS is now out of the picture.  2nd Amendment too, guns are legal but must be insured.

An incredible number of lives have saved.  Deaths by guns last year were down by 83 percent, murders were down by 67 percent.  Family violence injuries and deaths are now down by 64 percent, deaths alone down by 92 percent.  The insurance companies have done wonders in their screening efforts to withhold insurance and turn over the guns of those mentally unfit for gun ownership.

An added benefit to 'czar mr wrecking ball', he has had his blind trust buy an insurance company.  While he's at it he can insure himself against all the "lying" aggressive "romance" starved women he might molest.

 - I have never written formal satire before.  I choose for my assignment to attempt Political Satire.  I do not politicize in this blog although if you do so I may participate there.  This could be an exception, your comments may also be satire or may be your true feelings.
 - Personally, I own three guns which are near antiques.  One is a 1920's Montgomery Ward 22 gauge rifle, the other one that shoots bullets is a post WWII Spanish 9mm pistol for which the manufacturer has gone out of business.  The other is my childhood Red Ryder BB gun that still shoot.  I have never fired the first two nor have I purchased bullets for them.

Day turned Bad -- a post-Valentine Day poem -- Love Hurts.

Valentines Day Remorse

Through the day, through this day of days
Lord help me make it through this day
Valentine's Day, over for me
Missed your card, I wanted so bad

Two fingers in the air, excused
To the boy's room I went and sobbed
Sure I had a card from Lulu
But 'twas yours I was dreaming for

You didn't know or didn't care
You broke my heart, my Valentine

Reminiscing ~~ A Valentine Poem for Mrs. J

The knees and hips
a Valentine ditty for my sweetheart

The knees and hips do slow us down
But it's so very wonderful
Reminiscing on times gone by

Times we once had but will repeat
no more. The intimate moments
I remember the most, but not all

Followed by the “firsts”, some of them
Remember the first meal you cooked
Just for me, I was so happy

That day was roasted Cornish hen
Baked potato with all trimmings
Followed by Vichyssoise, my first

There and then ready to marry,
You made me wait a whole six months
I love you still, more every day

I'm linked withat the Imaginary Garden with Real Toads, The Tuesday Platform ~~ http://withrealtoads.blogspot.com/2018/02/the-tuesday-platform_13.html:

There Sanaa had a bunchy of Valentines Day Poems to listen to and also discussed the origin of Valentine's Day.  In part, ""In Chaucer's "The Parliament of Fowls," the royal engagement, the mating season of birds, and St. Valentine's Day are related:
"For this was on St. Valentine's Day, when every fowl cometh there to choose his mate.""

Advice (if you need some) -- a Weekend Poem

This picture was taken in a museum in the cellar of the Château de Vaux-le-Vicomte mansion (southeast of Paris about 61km). Imprisonment for Money, Power, and Politics.

Poem:
To a carouser;
advice from an old timer

"I have been one acquainted with the night"**
Never one to bed early with the birds
Never one to be overcome with fright

I have been out carousing with the herds
You stay out of trouble that is the game
If ever you get stopped don't slur your words

If you are detained take care don't inflame
Say yes sir and no sir, hold in your pride
Having your name in the paper brings shame

If they throw down please don't claim that they lied
Rather stay cool and maintain that you're right
Go with the flow there and don't get hog tied

If jailed call your attorney don't incite
"I have been one acquainted with the night"

Disclaimer:  This is written in first person but it is not me.  It is my muse who snooped a little into way back when before I was civilized.  Still I never went jail though I did get stopped when out too late.  And I would never be in a situation to slur my words.  Some of my friends did all of this and more though.

**Go there (link above) to read a nice Robert Burns poem using this from.  I used Burn's first and last line in my poem.  The rest is my own mess.
