Hope and Despair

Through the grains of sand I peer
Freedom's not far, though I fear
For sure it won't be escape,
unless. A saw in my cake

Grains of sand, where is my gem
Shackles and chains, crime's emblem
Fortunes were made, came prestige
All I have, here, loathed vestige

Friends are gone, won't loosen chains
Hope is nill, not in these grains

Understanding Love poem -- then there's Aether*

Earth, Wind, and Fire; then there's Aether*

Why do you love?  What makes the world stop for me?
He doesn't say those words, three little ones,
one by four by three.  "I love you" is in his heart,
in his head, but absent from his tongue

Is it because he knows that I love him?
How does he know, I often wonder.
But I know he does, his tender touch,
the look in his eye, his feeling comes to me

It isn't from that touch or the look of eye
It's in the air, over the miles or an inch
Not wind, radio, radar, or TV
Through the aether* we connect, heart to heart

 - She wants us to try piecing the Classical Elements into our poetry.  The classical elements are: fire, air, water and earth.  There is also a rock band named "Earth, Wind, and Fire," (Wikipedia)  part of which I used in my title.  The other part, 'Aether', was added by Aristotle, as a fifth element, 'aether', as the quintessence, reasoning.
 - Later scientists discovered that Vacuum, or Ether, was the carrier for electric waves used for communication from point to point without wires, either line of sight or bouncing, and generally, but not always, included going into the mysterious heavens before returning to earth to be received.  See Note below with references.

*Note:  Aether, now generally called by 'ether', is the mysterious make up of the heavens, through and by which radio waves and light are transmitted and received, i.e. carried. Vacuum tubes in the old timey radios were also called upon ether, or vacuum, to transfer electricity (Google).  See here for a more detailed explanation of ether.

Bright and Sunny Day ~~ a Whiligig Poem

Two Bites

One bright and sunny day

Soon to become darkened

Our clumsy wasp was caught

Red molecules of blood

Sticky whirl, his demise

He did begrudge that day

Spider's web alluring

Poppy seeds sugar dripped

His shouts of no avail

Until heard by the crow

False alarm, two small bites

Food chain, gizzard pulling
