Siena, Tuscany, Italy -- Piazza del Campo and Siena Horse Race Photo

Piazza del Campo is the secular heart of Siena, a sloping amphitheatre of a square, lined with cafe tables and thronged with tourists, school parties and locals. The Campo is the dramatic setting for the Palio horserace.

Siena, Tuscany, Italy -- she-wolf

The she-wolf at her best!
.
"Another of Siena's lovely piazza's is Piazza Tolomei. It is dominated by the 13th century Palazzo Tolomei, which was once the residence of the noble Tolomei family. Also in the piazza is the Church of San Cristoforo. Originally Romanesque, it was completely remodelled in the 18th century after being damaged by an earthquake. The church has an impressive wooden crucifix and a marble-sculptured high altar.
.
My favourite thing in the square is the tall statue/column which is topped with the famous Sienese she-wolf suckling human twins, which dates back to 1610." (link to Things to Do, Siena by Sue Stone)

One Single Impression: Wrinkle [a]

.
Wrinkle

One little wrinkle
said to his mama, Mama,
why am I called Smiles?

Why am I called Smiles
begs the question. You should ask,
why's my name Wrinkle?

Why's your name wrinkle?
I'm surprised you asked me that,
Daddy's named Wrinkle.

Sins of the father
are passed down to the children
for them to repeat*
